Recommended Processing:
| Recomended Solders | Solder is not recommended with this alloy |
| Recommended Investment |
Spruing:
Single units - Direct method with 8 ga. sprues and adequate resevoirs.
Investment: Use a low-heat gypsum-based investment following the manufacturer's instructions.
Burnout: After adequate set-up time, place ring(s) in oven at room temperature and raise temperature to 1300F (704C) and hold for 1 hour. Add ten minutes for each additional ring.
Melting and Casting: De Oro 99 has a casting temperature of 2250F(1230C). Use an air/gas torch with multiorifice tip. Flux is not recommended. The alloy will run together and pool with a thin cloudy surface. Cast when the cloudiness disappears. Clean buttons may be remelted with 50% addition of new alloy. Do not overheat the alloy.
Preparing Framework: Casting may be blasted using aluminum oxide (100-150u). Oxidize from 1200F (649C) to 1750F (954C) at a rate of 100F/min (56C/min) in air. Hold for 5 minutes. Then, bench cool. Do not air abrade a second time.
Soldering:Solder is not recommended with this alloy.
