Recomended SoldersPre YSF, Post 585
Recommended Investment

Soldering: Pre solder using Gateway YSF solder without flux. Post solder using 585 solder.

Spruing:

Single crowns - Direct method with 8 ga. sprues and adequate resevoirs.
Multiple Units and bridges - Use 6 ga. runner bars with 10 ga. sprues to units and 8 ga sprues to the sprue base.

Investment: Use a carbon free high-heat phosphate-based investment following the manufacturer's instructions.

Burnout: After adequate set-up time, place ring(s) in oven at room temperature and raise temperature to 800F (425C) and hold for 30 minutes. Raise temperature to 1500F (816C) and hold for 1 hour plus ten minutes for each additional ring.

Melting and Casting: GATEWAY 75 has a casting temperature of 2350F(1290C). Use a fuel/oxygen torch with multiorifice tip. Do not use flux. The alloy will run together and pool and a thin cloudy surface will appear. Cast when the cloudiness disappears. Allow to bench cool before divesting. Add 50% new material to buttons. Do not use graphite crucibles.

Finishing: Casting may be blasted using 100-150 micron aluminum oxide. Shape and finish leaving a slightly rough surface on all porcelain bearing areas.

Degassing:Place units in a 1200F (649C) oven and raise temperature to 1810F (988C) without vacuum at a heating rate of 100F/min (56C/min). Remove at once and bench cool. Remove oxide with new 100-150 micron aluminum oxide. Clean in distilled water in ultrasonic cleaner for 10 minutes.

Opaquing: Follow porcelain manufacturer's instructions.
